Mercury’s greatest western elongation

Image
As we know Mercury is the planet closest to our sun and it is very unlikely, we can see it on daily basis, but here’s an opportunity to see Mercury with telescope and even with our naked eyes. On the morning of 25 th October 2021 at 9:15 IST Mercury (with respect to Earth) will be on the most Western point possible from sun at an altitude of 18 degrees from the horizon. As, like other planets, Mercury also have an elliptical orbit and because of the relative positions of Earth, Sun and Mercury; Mercury’s altitude starts increasing from 22 nd September and reaches its peak on 25 th October because of its greatest western elongation (increasing angular distance relative to us between Mercury from sun where Mercury drifts apart from Sun towards west) and then as gradually it occurred, it will start moving towards Sun and will be invisible because of Sun’s mighty bright light. So, 25 th , 26 th and 27 th October are the best days to get a chance to see Mercury. So, what should you do ...

A Brief Study on Lunar Colonization

Image
When we think of space exploration, Moon is the first celestial object that strikes the human thinking and Lunar Colonization is the topic which must be thought about. With the existing technology, it is possible to build a lunar base, with near about 20 to 40 billion dollars and it's construction spread across a decade. This will start a new space race and lay the foundation to spread across the solar system. Then, why are not we doing so? One of the key reasons is that it is really hard to drive Government's attention to the concept such as Lunar Colonization as they are not willing for long term investment on the Moon as they have other must important things to worry about. But, what will be the impacts if we think of doing so? What will we have to go through? Throughout history, Colonization happened in three stages. In the first/initial stage, the European monarchs funded exploration to discover and state claims on other undiscovered lands. They set camps but didn...

Current Situation in Space Tourism

Image
Spaceflight, in the use of space technology is to achieve the flight of spacecraft into and through outer space. Spaceflight is used in space exploration as well as in commercial activities like space tourism and satellite telecommunications. Additional non-commercial uses of spaceflight include space observatories, reconnaissance satellites and other Earth observation satellites. Space tourism means the human space travel for recreational purposes. This is a topic, nowadays in the interest for the space enthusiasts. There are mainly three people who are trying to make this a reality: 1.      1.  Billionaire Richard Branson:         Owner of Virgin Group Company   Space company owned is Virgin Galactic 2.       2.  Billionaire Jeff Bezos:    Owner of Amazon    Space company owned is Blue Origin 3.       3.  Currently World’s richest man Billionaire Elon Musk: ...
